Credentials and Background:

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and have been working in the mental health field for over 12 years.  My interest in the field began in college when I volunteered at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital) on the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. After graduating from DePaul University with my bachelor's in psychology, I went on to earn my masters in clinical counseling at Rosalind Franklin. After obtaining my masters, I continued to work at Lurie Children's on the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit gaining significant experience helping  children, teenagers and their families in times of intense difficulty in their lives.

I also worked at a community mental health organization in Chicago providing outpatient therapy to adults with a variety of backgrounds and challenges.  This gave me experience working with a majority of adult clients experiencing various psyshosocial stressors and challenges.

In 2014, I started working in private practice and really enjoyed creating the long term relationships and change. In 2016, I started Ashley Allis Therapy and have been growing ever since.

Therapy style:

Private practice allows me to provide individualized, focused, longer term therapy resulting in significant life changes and accomplishments for the client. My therapy approach combines warmth, compassion, and humor. Some of the styles of therapy I draw from are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and solution focused therapy strategies. The scope of my experience - hospital inpatient unit,  community health clinic and private practice has taught me how each client is different and that each client needs a treatment plan developed in collaboration with their therapist and tailored to their needs.

About me:

When I am not in session, I really enjoy cooking, traveling, trying new restaurants (sushi and tapas are my favorite), staying active and spending time with my husband and daughter.
